Why our kids’ happiness should not be the goal {Parentdish}

I’ve been the mom dragging her kid crying out of a public forum. What saddens me most is that I know whatever I am feeling, my kid is feeling something worse.

So many times I’ve sat in rooms with other moms and kids. We apologize for our kids’ poor manners. We get embarrassed by their outbursts. We console each other when their kid acts out in the same way ours did a week ago.

When our kids aren’t happy we feel like we are doing something wrong, but are we?
