Purse Declutter (+ bedroom reno update)

I recently decluttered my Under the Bed bin of purses. But it was all prompted by a bedroom reno we did, which forced me to remove the bins storage from under the bed.

The bedroom reno continues, I’ll give you a BTS of where we are at.

Where we started  (pre minimalism) . . .

Over the years we decluttered a LOT but our space was still crammed with this long dresser and a smaller one by the bed.

This fall we expanded our closet into the office in order to remove the dressers from the space

We added floors, wallpaper and a beloved retro collage with Waffle As Main Character vibes.

And now we are working on this built-in for the fireplace and tv. (Heat in a lovely space, it is our Christmas present to one another)

The new bed frame we got is lower than our other so we can’t store Rubbermaid bins of all the random things under the bed anymore. I had to bring these ‘out of sight, out of mind’ items out and choose what gets to stay.

So I had to declutter a purse collection that I had not edited in about a decade.

It is always entertaining to declutter a purse collection.

They are form and function and also feel like a very tangible form of self-expression. They all felt necessary to obtain for whatever season of life I felt like I was in and who I wanted to be.

It is also interesting to see the residue of necessities that remain in the pockets of them . . .

I have kept about three of these purses, the engraved leather one was passed down from my grandma so that is kept up on the shelf. The rest of them hang on hooks behind the bedroom door, along with a handful of ‘go bags’ (canvas bags with a long strap) which tend to serve as my ‘big purse’ with a smaller one put inside of it that I can bring into stores.
