My office is a powerhouse for working two different jobs (hence two desks) and the holding pen for all the papers, files and craft supplies that our family uses.
I know this space is small, but one thing I’ve noticed over the years is that I often wish my office had a comfy chair to sit in and read.

So, I’ve also recently added a futon into my office.
I know it is on the tight side in here, but I wanted function over form in this space.
And, it turned out to be a good choice so far. I have found Conor and I will often go sit here when we are on phone calls. The other day I was sitting in here reading and my daughter and her friend came in and sat there with me, it was kinda special and simple.

The other week we switched kid rooms and I regained all the miscellaneous craft supplies they had been littering their rooms. (I’m a big fan of compiling like items into one space) However, as you can see, the space got so unorganized and full that everything was spilling out onto the floor. (because organizing is routine and not a one-and-done situation!)

As I have been working to maintain an office space that I like to be in
(which is a good reason to take care of your space, if you ask me), I took some time to refresh this closet mess the other week.
I know this is more of a re-organizing than a full-on declutter, though I did get rid of a garbage bag of ‘stuff’.
Side note: I know this closet isn’t Pinterest Pretty, but it works for us!
Here are two takeaways I want to share.
This took me 30 minutes!
Decluttering is something you can get ‘good’ at and I can make quicker decisions than I used to.
I also keep the sorting very simple (my categories are often: belongs here, belongs in another room, garbage and recycling)
And the other thing I noticed is, it felt good to have some control over the space. We are in the midst of a kitchen reno and the major spaces in the home feel chaotic. So I took some control where I had some.
