It is October 2022 and I am writing to you from a (still) half-finished kitchen (#neverendingreno), between client calls and kids coming home from school.
The HGTV shows sure gave me false impressions that kitchen renos happen in a weekend (aka 22 minutes).
But after a month in, we have adapted to life without *counters* or a kitchen sink, which I’m telling myself will make them ALL the more sweeter when these modern conveniences make a return to my life.
To give you an idea of what it looks like, here is a photo I sent my little sis the other day, while I sat at my island:

I also decluttered the box of stuff I packed up last month from our old kitchen junk drawer, and really played editor over what would MAKE THE CUT in our smaller, new junk drawer. (Our old junk drawer, this is an old pic, but it cycled into this state when I didn’t maintain it. PSA. the cute drawer dividers won’t save you if there is also Chaos Layers)
(new junk drawer, already some light Chaos Layering, but less of it so it will be easier to maintain)
And full disclosure, I created a ‘stuff to put away in the basement’ box and a ‘Conor’s stuff’ box, both of which have not been dealt with, but it’s all small steps that count towards the bigger destination. IT ALL COUNTS! And another note about junk drawers, and kitchens in general -watch for how they can become a multipurpose space. They often are landing grounds for papers, random office supplies, things to be filed away, craft supplies, battery storage, etc.
