The Linen Closet (file don’t pile)

Decluttering The LINEN CLOSET!

This has been on my ‘spring cleaning’ list. So I took some time this week to declutter it.

  • We took out everything except all the games and puzzles (those were staying and generally well organized)
  • We went through all the things and made a huge pile for thrift (including three bags FILLED WITH other bags! Taking those to the foodbank)
  • Then we ROLLED the blankets.
    • Vertical storage is optimal to horizontal (file it don’t pile it) but since it is tricky with big linens, this seemed like a good compromise.
    • So far so good, we can pull out the blankets without toppling a tower of poorly folded quilts and sheets.

Our closet isn’t ‘empty’.

It is not about getting rid of everything.

It is about getting rid of what doesn’t serve you, the things you never get around to using, the things you have outgrown. Keep what you use and love.

What I want you to know!

One thing I always enjoy sharing is the timestamp on the before and after.  We decluttered this and put the closet back together in 35 minutes!

Of course, we have a lot of thrift stuff and garbage to deal with now, but that is an easy trip to the thrift store.

Be encouraged friends. You don’t need a whole weekend to declutter one closet. You might not even need an hour! Just get started!
