In the past, I shared a list of simple pleasures and had some really interesting feedback.
A reader let me know how much the list helped them because they are unable to be very mobile, but many of my suggestions were things they could still do and enjoy.
So in light of that, I’ve been compiling this list of Simple Pleasures of the Summer
- Sitting outside and listening to music (but not making your neighbour also listen to your music, cause we love our neighbours)
- Seeing laundry on the line, the smell of laundry off the line
- Weeding the garden, digging in the dirt, harvesting anything at all (#mediocregardener)
- The smell of everything heating in the sun after a rainstorm
- Summer rainstorms
- Sitting on the deck while the summer rainstorm is happening
- Deckfast (breakfast in a sunbeam outside)
- Sleeping with the windows open
- Sitting in sunbeams while the morning is still a bit cool
- Morning coffee outside
- Coffee in a pool, hottub, river, bathtub,
- Fruitstands, farm boxes, wild berries, any local produce you can get your hands on
- A deck hang at the end of the night
- The shower you have after a long day at the beach
- The shower you have after being around a fire all night
- Flowers
- Having only fruit for a meal
- Having only nachos for a meal
- Barefeet on the grass (adults are not too old to lay in the grass #grounding)
- Watching sprinklers in the sunshine (not just a pastime for Rad Dads)
- Taking the laptop outside and working outside (currently writing to you from the deck!)
- Reading outside
- Parades
- Sitting by water of any kind (alone or with people you like)
- A pitcher of iced tea in the fridge
